Salt Lake City Utah Temple Renovation

 

I've been there watching as the Salt Lake Temple
began some much-needed renovation and restoration.

In the beginning, there was only scaffolding on
the top of the temple as they assessed the rest
of the work that was needed.

We all watched from afar as the work progressed.

I brought Angel Eeyore along to be in these
pictures. Eeyore sometimes struggles to see the
bright side of things, and he must have been
 distressed to see the whole temple covered in scaffolding.

But Eeyore came to understand that changes and
repairs sometimes need to be made,
just as we sometimes erect scaffolding around 
our fragile faith and retrofit our foundation so that we
have the strength to withstand the storms of life.

My blog partner, Susan, once told me a story of taking
some Primary kids to Temple Square during the
Christmas holidays to see the decorations. As they approached the downtown area of Salt Lake City, one of the boys started to cry as he saw the sign for North Temple,
one of the streets that intersects with the temple.

"That sign says there is 'NO TEMPLE!'"

It must be hard on the people of Salt Lake City to have their longest-running temple out of commission for so long,
but it will be coming back stronger and more able to face whatever challenges await!

Remember when you start feeling like Eeyore
and lose hope for the future, that change is not the enemy!
